The Exhibition “Tribute to Ibrahim Kodra”, dedicated to the European artist of Albanian origin Ibrahim Kodra, who has studied and lived in Italy. This exhibition is a tribute and a presentation of the works that will retrace the steps of the artistic life of the Master. The exhibition brings together original works by Maestro Ibrahim Kodra, considered as one of the last post-cubist in the world and which has left an important mark on the history of Italian and European painting. The poet Paul Eluard defined his work as “Le primitif d’une nouvelle civilization”, while Pablo Picasso stated that “even his signature is a work of art”.
Thanks to a scholarship awarded by the Albanian Royal Family and the Italian government, Ibrahim Kodra studied at the Accademia di Brera and after the war took part in two important artistic movements: “Oltre Guernica” and “Linea”, which he founded in 1947 together with Dova, Brindisi and Meloni. From this period begins the overview of Kodra’s artistic creations, dating from 1941 to the last days of his life.
The works, which allow us to understand the transformation of the great Master and his artistic language, come from the collections of Ibrahim Kodra Swiss Foundation, Municipality of Campione d’Italia (who kindly for the occasion lent the painting “Tribute to Armstrong”, winner of the Eighth International Prize for Painting “Campione d’Italia 1972”), Pacolli family’s private collection and others. Included in this beautiful selection are “The Archeologist”, “A General’s Dream”, and “Lugano Fantastica”, Kodra’s last masterpiece.
